Keri Ewart

Keri Ewart (Assistant Professor, Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario) is a professor in Language and Literacy and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Education and Global Contexts to BEd and Graduate students. As former coordinator of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Decolonization, and Anti-Racism and Community Outreach for the University of British Columbia, Master of Educational Technology Program, Dr. Ewart integrates culturally responsive and sustaining theories and pedagogies into her teachings, courses, and service work.
Dr. Ewart's research expertise is located in the area of inclusive education, multiliteracies, and digital literacies, with a focus on AI in Education and Educational AI to develop ethically and culturally sustaining uses of AI. Before higher education, Dr. Ewart spent 17 years in K-12 schools in different roles supporting inclusive education and EDIDA through multiliteracies and multimodalities pedagogy. She has supported school and institutional success nationally and internationally to support differentiated and inclusive education. Her current publications include Leveraging generative AI for culturally responsive teaching: A shift in education planning and practice and From macro to culturally responsive and sustaining contextualized micro-prompts: Guiding teacher candidates through an AI prompting continuum.
